What do we do?
Our focus through this summer camp is to provide each participant the opportunity to learn coding concepts in the programming language Java. This code will be directly transferable into the popular video game Minecraft. Throughout the 2 week program, campers will be taught various subjects including primitive data types, strings, arrays, loops, objects, methods, debugging, and more! A subject will be taught daily through instructions, demonstration and guided application into each camper's program. With the guided practice, campers will become comfortable enough to build their own projects upon completion of the camp.
When is it?
Throughout the months of July and August, we will be running 3 different sections that each consist of 2 weeks of lessons. We strongly suggest each camper attend everyday throughout the duration of a 2 week section. Each day will beginning at 9:00am and end at 4:00pm with time prior and following the day for drop off and pick up. If a camper will be absent on certain days or times, it will be required that the instructors are notified.

How is the day structured?
The day is structured to allow adequate time for understanding content while still enjoying breaks and time to socialize. Every morning will start with drop off in between 8:30-9:00am and the camp will begin promptly at 9:00am. Each block will consist of a short demonstration, activities to encourage participation and then follows with time to work individually on the project. Snack and outdoor breaks will be scattered throughout the blocks to allow each camper the time they need to refresh and focus once again. Lunch will be eaten outside if weather permitting and enjoyed in the company of instructors and fellow campmates. Assistance and supervision will the present the entire day starting at 8:30am and ending once every camper has been picked up.

What are the requirements for attending?
We are currently accepting any campers between the ages of 10 - 16, regardless of prior experience. However, since this is the first year of operation, we have a few items that each camper wishing to participate must ensure is accommodated for prior to the beginning of camp. Firstly, each camper must bring their own laptop and charging cable. Second, we ask each parent to download Minecraft Java Edition through the Minecraft Store (click here to view the site). When each camper has their own computer and Minecraft game, they will be able to keep and replicate all the projects at home. If there are any difficulties or barriers preventing a camper from fulfilling these requirements, please reach out to us for assistance.
